If you're connecting using a Mini DisplayPort adapter, make sure that your Mac can send audio over Mini DisplayPort. In the Output pane, make sure that your HDMI device is selected.
TLDR YTTV won’t stream through a lightning to HDMI adaptor to my tv but all other apps do. If your HDMI device isn't receiving audio from your Mac: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Sound. (I’m not using an Apple TV in this equation)
